It is New Year's Evening, and I am in the kitchen with my adult daughter making shrimp tacos, while listening to smooth jazz on our Alexa. In my front yard the only lights that remain softly glowing are yellow and red LED lights that are wrapped around a magnolia and large pine tree. In the window pretend flames flickering from battery-operated candles. All the Christmas joyful characters, once sporadically placed in the yard, now lay in their assigned boxes until next year. The only thing left is to bring in the new year.
This time of year is when we put down the sweets and think of a healthier atmosphere. We ponder over the things we want to change and make promises to ourselves that we hope we will keep.
Although it has been a crazy year here in my home, I look forward to next year as being soft, soothing, with healing in my life. Yes, I have my regular News Year's resolution, but 2022 I want to be different. As I look at my life, each moment deserves to have its time to live. Live in the now and know that these moments will bring memories of some kind. For the moments that just drift by without any recollection are moments of contentment basking in my appreciation for the good in my life. Yes, there will be challenges, and some can be seen all the way from here, but from moment to moment build strength for the challenges that are to come.
What is a perfect year really? With life comes the good with the bad. A balance of both positive and negative. It is how we see events and cope with them. The sad ones are the hardest and it tends to get us out of our center, dimming our aura of energy that surrounds our physical body. We may spend the rest of the year getting back to our center, learning the lessons that are drastically forced onto us. It is those positive moments that we tend to miss due to anxiety, dread, and sadness.
As hard as it may be, holding on to those moments, for that moment can help heal those sad situations we feel inside and bring you closer to your center. When we look back to the year of 2021 lets learn by remembering the good times and how the past is now gone and live in this moment. We can say we were present during the sad moments. But can we say that we were fully present during the good moments of 2021? If so, good for you but if not, lets learn from them in 2022 and remember to fully be present during great times and feel it knowing this will be the only moment at that moment. Tell ourselves to be present at this moment feeling each second as it passes, feeling time pass like a smooth soothing wave, soaking up each second of the atmosphere. If we can soak up some joy in our life, we might be able to feel it in our hearts stronger in the future when we remember them.
When I am in that place where I am absolutely in the moment being in the now and feeling everything around me, it brings me back to how I felt as a child. Your views of 2021 were and 2022 will be different from mine, but one thing that we all have in common is that we are alive. Let us live it with as much appreciation for each moment as we live our daily lives.
